A denture is a removable apparatus to fill the gaps between teeth or to replace teeth if a person has lost them.
Partial dentures
This type of denture can be made of several different materials. It fits around existing teeth and fills in the gaps where teeth have been removed.
Full dentures
These can be made for either the top or bottom teeth (or even both) for a person who has had all their teeth extracted.
Implant-supported dentures
Also known as over-dentures, these are supported either with implants or the original teeth roots. Depending on the number of supports, these can be a great way to take away the necessity with upper dentures to have the palate covered with a horseshoe-shaped extension. They also can give great retention to lower dentures, which can otherwise ‘float’ around the mouth, due to lack of bone support.
